PLens Privacy Policy

PLens is an iPhone app by Blue Byte Apps, an independent studio operated by Amir Pirzad. This policy describes how the app handles information when you scan products, save results, and make purchases.
Product scans and AI
The camera preview stays on your device. When you take a scan, PLens compresses the captured product image and recognizes packaging text on your device. It sends the compressed image, recognized text, your selected shopping region, language, priorities, dietary preferences, and allergens to Google's Gemini service through Firebase AI Logic to generate a product explanation. These details may reveal sensitive preferences. Do not scan material you do not want processed by that service.
PLens does not operate its own image-upload or analysis server in the current app. Firebase AI Logic routes requests to the Gemini Developer API. Processing and retention by Google depend on the applicable provider terms and project configuration. We do not claim that submitted images are processed only on your device or that Google deletes them immediately.
Information kept on your device
Your shopping profile and choices to save scans or photos are stored in the app's local preferences. Product results you choose to save are stored locally on your device. If you enable “Save scanned photos to gallery,” PLens asks iOS for add-only Photos access and saves captured photos to your photo library. This option is off by default. Scan counts and purchase credit records are kept in the device Keychain. You can remove saved products in the app, disable photo saving in Settings, and manage saved photos in Photos. Removing the app generally removes its local app data; iOS may retain Keychain data across reinstallations.
Analytics, diagnostics, and app protection
PLens uses Firebase Analytics to measure app use and scan start, completion, and failure events. Analytics collection is enabled when the app starts. Firebase may process app-instance identifiers, device information, and usage data. The app includes Firebase Crashlytics for diagnostics, and Firebase App Check uses Apple's App Attest in production to help protect AI requests. These services may process technical identifiers and diagnostic data. PLens does not intentionally include product photos or shopping-profile values in its named analytics events.
Purchases and paywalls
Apple processes in-app payments. RevenueCat manages purchase status, entitlements, and restoration; Superwall presents paywalls. These providers may receive purchase, device, app, and interaction data needed to provide their services. PLens does not receive your full payment-card number.
Sharing and retention
We use Google/Firebase, RevenueCat, Superwall, and Apple for the purposes described above. We do not sell product photos or shopping-profile information. Local records remain until you delete them or remove the app, subject to iOS storage behavior. Each service provider applies its own retention practices to data it processes; contact us if you need help with a data request.
Your choices and contact
You can deny camera or Photos permission in iOS Settings. Without camera access, scanning will not work. You can manage the app's local save options in PLens Settings and manage subscriptions in your Apple account. For privacy questions or data requests, use the contact link at bluebyteapps.com.
